The Challenge
Build a TV-first fitness product people would start intentionally, trust quickly, and repeat—then scale it into a connected-device platform (watch + camera) without breaking the remote-first experience.
Earn trust before commitment
Make benefits legible before asking for sign-in / T&Cs / devices pairing.
Prove value fast
In a remote-first, time-boxed workout context.
Meaningful feedback with limited sensing
As sensing capabilities expanded, we needed to ensure feedback felt credible and motivating on TV—despite early tech limits.

The Approach
Phase 1 — Vision to Production (MVP)
Brought in after the concept had executive buy-in to bridge the vision to a shippable product. Designed end-to-end flows across the full service. Co-defined a new production-level design system with visual designers (first team to adopt the new TV design system).
Phase 2 — Redesign for Engagement
Post-launch: 75% onboarding drop-off, only 2.5% active users. Features the team invested in most heavily saw the lowest adoption. Synthesized survey, diary study, and behavioral data to diagnose drop-off across onboarding, content browsing, and feature adoption.
Phase 3 — Camera + Wearable Integration
Led design for camera-based motion tracking workout and Galaxy Watch 4 integration — both featured at CES. Navigated technical constraints and designed cross-device flows for a shared household screen.
Key Design Decisions
2 - Remove every barrier between the user and their workout
Fitness users allocate dedicated time and won't spend it navigating. Content browsing, device connection, and routine reminders are all designed to get users into content fast.
3 - Prioritize motivation over correcting form to drive habit formation
A trade-off driven by both user needs and technical readiness. Sensor feedback designed to keep users moving — subtle form cues during workout, detailed scores after. Post-workout summary celebrates progress with metrics that scale across all partner content.
